The brief for Sprout was to design a piece of children’s furniture that had a second function after the kid outgrew the piece! I thought his was an interesting problem to solve. I wanted to make sure it was something useful in both phases of its life cycle. I came up with a stool that a child could use when they were young, and as they grew up they could use it as a desk lamp. I achieved this with the accordion paper shade living inside of the the stool body.
