This was a fun exercise of trying to turn the classic Gerrit Rietveld Zig Zag chair, which is traditionally made from wood, into a modern metal version. We wanted to make sure that we didn’t change any of the original dimension, but only the material. This was the main problem to overcome. We had to experiment with many different internal structures to get the chair to be the same thickness as the original, only with two outside sheet metal pieces.
